Oatmeal Smoothie

When you’re running late and don’t have time for breakfast whip up this delicious Oatmeal Smoothie and take your breakfast “to go”. Comforting and warming, it  has heart-healthy oats and almond butter protein to kick start your day.

Low in sugar, it is a healthy, fun breakfast that your kids will love – but adults can drink it too! Perfect for fall, winter or anytime there is a chill in the air.

Makes 1 serving

In your high speed blender add:
1 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon cashews
1 tablespoon Justins™ organic, unsweetened almond butter
1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds
1 teaspoon dried cranberries
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

Blend on high for 1 minute. Then add:
1 cup boiling water
⅓ cup instant oats

Let soak for 3 minutes until the oats are mushy. Pulse 2 or 3 times to desired consistency. Pour into “to go” mug.

Caution for blending hot liquids:
When blending hot liquids, fill blender no more than halfway. If you are not using a blender with ventilation holes in the lid, release one corner of the lid to prevent the vacuum effect that creates heat explosions. Place a towel over the top of the machine before processing on high speed until smooth.
